"Fend For Yourself" is the new Cure

CMS just announced it will slash Navigator funding from ninety eight million to ten. That is not belt tightening. That is demolition.

Navigators are the only human beings standing between ordinary Americans and an insurance system engineered to confuse them.

With one press release, CMS told millions of families that efficiency on a spreadsheet matters more than their access to coverage.

They say Navigators only enrolled ninety two thousand people last year. They reduce people to a data point, then cry about cost per enrollment. They ignore the fact that Navigators help the hardest cases. The immigrant who cannot read the fine print. The parent juggling three part time jobs and Medicaid churn. The elderly widow who never touched a laptop. These are not “inefficient enrollments.” These are lives.

CMS brags this cut will save three hundred sixty million over four years. That money does not vanish from the system. It shows up as medical debt. It shows up as hospitals forced to eat the cost of uncompensated care. It shows up in county budgets when families collapse into poverty. It shows up in funerals.

The cruelty gets repackaged as a win for taxpayers. Lower user fees, lower premiums. Except premiums never stay down. Insurers still rake in billions. Patients lose their guides. Politicians get their talking points. Everyone wins except the only people who matter.

I have lived long enough in this mess to recognize the pattern. Every administration tweaks the faucet.

Starve the program. Restore it. Cut it again. Patients are left begging while bureaucrats congratulate themselves for savings.

This is not savings. This is abandonment.

If this hits home, toss it a like, a repost, comment, or tag someone you may be ambivalent about. One click makes a bigger difference than you think.
