[ICYMI] Premium Hikes & Member Purges #OhMy!
UnitedHealth reported $14.3 billion in quarterly profits and called it a problem. Wall Street wanted more. The fix is to raise premiums in the double digits, cut benefits, drop 600,000 Medicare Advantage members, and slash provider networks. Patients, employers, and taxpayers will absorb the cost so shareholders can feel safe.
UnitedHealth took $84 billion in Medicare Advantage overpayments yet claims poverty. Congress yawns. Employers pass costs to workers. Doctors drown in paperwork while UnitedHealth quietly becomes the largest employer of doctors in the country.
This cycle is deliberate. Squeeze patients until they skip care. They get sicker. They hit the ER. Costs rise. Wall Street panics. Repeat.
Would you accept a car that breaks more often and costs twice as much every year? Health insurance is the only product in America that consistently delivers less while charging more.
