North To The Future
Congress keeps theatrically pretending healthcare is a partisan sport while Main Street bleeds the same color. Erin Jackson-Hill from Alaska spelled it out (SOURCE IN COMMENTS): without renewed ACA subsidies, her insurance quadruples to $2,300 a month. “It will become a choice between health care, housing, food and paying my bills.”
78% of Americans—Democrats, Republicans, independents, whatever—agree those subsidies should stay. It’s one of the few issues the country actually unites on. Purple, kids! Purple!
The only place it’s partisan is inside the Capitol, where lobbyists write checks and lawmakers play dumb. Blame whom you want, it’s all intentional histrionics to further divide us.
Every member of Congress enjoys government-funded healthcare. Every one of them. Meanwhile, they debate whether the rest of us deserve to see a doctor without selling a kidney. They call it fiscal discipline. It’s moral decay.
This isn’t about Alaska. It’s about the entire country. Red state, blue state, same pain. When premiums quadruple, people die. When subsidies vanish, families collapse. And when Congress shrugs, voters notice.
Healthcare isn’t a privilege for politicians. It’s the minimum price of decency in a civilized nation. Renew the subsidies or own the fallout. The country’s watching, and for once, it’s watching together.
End the shutdown.
