Out of Patients EP395: My Best Friend Sarah
🚨NEW EPISODE ALERT 🚨
Thirty years of friendship.
One shared love of Sondheim.
Two cancer diagnoses.
A love of SUNY Binghamton.
One hell of a conversation.
Sarah Armstrong is my college ride-or-die, my musical theater twin, and now my fellow survivor. We met on day one at Binghamton. She was my RA. I asked her where I could play piano. That moment changed my life.
This episode is about friendship that lasts, what we owe our mentors, and how music gives shape to everything—grief, joy, memory, identity. We get into how cancer screws with your head, your body, your sense of time—and what it means to get through it with someone who actually gets it.
Also: obscure Broadway shows, the death of the Denny’s in Vestal, and what happens when you surprise yourself by hitting the high note you didn’t think you could.
