The Tar Heel State FTW

🥳 🎉👏🏻 IT FINALLY HAPPENED 👏🏻🎉🥳

A state did something rational.

North Carolina just passed HB 434—unanimously in the House and nearly unanimously in the Senate. Yes, North Carolina. Yes, a healthcare bill. Yes, bipartisan. No, this is not an AI hallucination.

This bill guts some of the worst industry tactics: (1) meaningless prior auth ping-pong, (2) surprise facility fees for breathing near a hospital, (3) itemized bills written in Sanskrit, and (4) those lovely surprise out-of-network minefields.

Gone. Reformed. Neutralized. Buh bye.

The bill even fines hospital execs if they don’t post their prices. Not performative fines—actual money. Like, “there goes your country club dues” money. Go drive a used Edsel.

If you’ve ever fought with an insurer over a treatment you needed yesterday, if you’ve ever asked for the price of care and been told “that depends,” or if you’ve been hosed by a facility fee for walking into the wrong building—this law is for you. And I hope it's going to start a trend.

This is the Tar Heel state's government saying, “We see what they’re doing. Cut it out.”

It’s not perfect. But it’s real. And it proves that meaningful reform can happen—if someone finally grows a spine.

If this hit home, toss it a like, repost, comment, or tag someone you may be ambivalent about. One click makes a bigger difference than you think.
