The Event
MZ30: A History of Cancer Survivorship is a one night only live benefit concert event that blends music, storytelling, and raw humanity.
Created by Matthew Zachary, a concert pianist and brain cancer survivor, the evening marks thirty years since his diagnosis and the launch of his debut book, We The Patients. It celebrates the art, humor, and heart that come with staying alive. Featuring powerful guest voices and a mix of piano, reflection, and connection, MZ30 turns survivorship into a shared experience. It’s not a gala. It’s not a lecture. It’s a night for anyone who believes life, art, and purpose are worth showing up for.
Matthew Zachary
Matthew Zachary is a concert pianist, brain cancer survivor, and founder of We The Patients, a movement redefining what it means to live after diagnosis. Named one of the most influential voices in healthcare, he built his career at the intersection of art, advocacy, and impact. As creator and host of the award-winning Out of Patients podcast and founder of Stupid Cancer, he has spent decades amplifying patient stories and pushing for change in how healthcare treats people.
MZ30 brings his journey full circle — a return to the stage, a celebration of survival, and a love letter to the community that made it possible.
CHANGING LIVES
