Another Open Letter to Mark Cuban

Dear Mark,

You told The Bulwark you’d rather change healthcare than win political battles.

Here’s some calculus for you: The PBMs you’re fighting have lobbyists. The rebate schemes you’re exposing are protected by Congress. Transparency doesn’t primary incumbents. Spreadsheets don’t vote.

You know what does? 19M cancer survivors. 133M Americans with chronic conditions. People choosing between rent and insurance because Congress left for vacation while ACA subsidies expired. And we’re pissed as fuck.

I was just published in The Hill: “The next election will be decided by America’s sick.” Patients are done being products. We’re becoming a political force to rig the system in OUR favor for once by voting out the lawmakers who keep rigging it against us and primarying the ones who won’t.

YOU. NEED. TO. READ. THIS.

You’ve disrupted drug pricing.

Now help us disrupt the ballot.

You’ve told everyone you’re rich as shit and don’t need the money. Great. But kvetching into the same echo chambers week after week, expecting different results? That’s beneath your pedigree. Bitchslapping the industry and hoping public shame changes anything is a bad look.

You told me there’s “no value” here. My friend, there’s more than you know. This isn’t a 30-second Shark Tank elevator pitch. This requires real listening from real advocates from across the tracks who know way better than you how this is going to go down.

We’re ready to meet.

Say yes or say no.

But the storm is here either way.
