Dear Mark Cuban,
Mark Cuban gave the Senate four fixes that would save lives tomorrow.
They’ll pass none of them.
ONE: Count cash payments toward deductibles. You pay $30 cash because insurance wants $200? Right now that $30 counts for nothing. Cuban says count it. PBMs say no.
TWO: Base copays on real prices, not fake ones. Your insurance charges you based on $10,000 when they paid $100. Cuban says use the real number. Insurance says no.
THREE: Take formularies away from PBMs. Let doctors and scientists decide what drugs you can access. Not the companies making rebates off your denial. PBMs say absolutely not.
FOUR: Kill specialty tiers. Stop charging cancer patients more because their disease costs more to cure. Insurance companies would rather you die.
Four fixes. Clear as math. Simple as receipts.
The Senate committee nodded. They took notes. They thanked Cuban for his testimony. Then they went to lunch with the same lobbyists who wrote the current rules.
I’ve watched broke, dying cancer patients testify in Washington. I’ve watched senators perform concern while their staff checks donor alerts.
Cuban’s fixes would save thousands of lives and billions of dollars.
Congress knows this.
They’ll still choose the lobbyists.
Cuban proved the solutions exist. He wrote them on one page. He said them out loud in the building where laws get made.
Now we wait to see if anyone in power gives a damn.
The full scorecard tracks which senators might actually move. Spoiler: start counting on one hand.
