AYAs Take Chicago embodies today's celebratory "Ricola Alpine Horn" battle cry for the young adult cancer movement. The event is also a family reunion for everyone who "gets it" because they "got it."

And somehow, they've summoned "everything hurts" Grandpa MZ out of the crypt (bursitis and all) to keynote this thing. So, I'll be there in all my "Aging Gracefully Gen X" glory, reflecting on the fights we won, the fights we're still in, and the legacy we leave behind. History is a teacher, and past is always prologue

The AYA movement was built on sweat, stubbornness, rebelliousness, and disdain for the status quo (with a hint of refusal to be ignored). We had to demand a seat at the table, and now, this next generation of advocates is carrying the torch. It's "no guts, no glory, no glitz, no glam"—just doing the work that needs to be done.
